Meet Your Guide Nick Britton
|
I have been fishing the Pere Marquette and numerous other
Northern Michigan Rivers since 1999. Luckily, as a patient pupil
and with patient teachers, I have gained excellent knowledge and
experience from some of the best guides in the area. Of course
with all the teaching in the world, you still need to go out and
discover a little for yourself. I can assure you I have seen a
thing or two on the river as I have averaged over 180 days a
year with a fly rod in my hand, some years better than others,
but fortunately many days of fishing none the less.
My experience covers a wide range of tactics which include
indicator fishing forsteelhead and trout, stripping streamers for
large trout, and depending on where you are whatever other
large fish that may bite, waking bigger mouse patterns after
dark, and traditional dry fly tactics whether it may be during the day or at night! What’s my
favorite type of fishing??? Well, it depends what time of the year you ask me. I love it all as long I
have a fly rod in my hand and a river at my feet. I have been swatting bugs in 90 degree heat both
day and night and plowing through snow with single digits on the thermometer.

The few days that I am not on the river I can be found at home tying flies
or helping out with the kids at our daycare yes, I said daycare. My new
and very beautiful wife and I also own a daycare that is licensed for 82
kids, so there is always something to do or someone to help around the
house. I also officiate a lot of softball and hockey, play a little hockey
when I get the chance, and also do casting instruction for schools and other
groups. Though it took a few years to grow on me and admit, patience
and educating are a couple of my best qualities as a person and as a guide.
